New IMO regulation that comes into effect as of January 2020.
New IMO Regulation relating to the reduction of Sulphur in Liquid Fuels.
(EU Directive 2016-802).
We have been notified that as of January 1st 2020 all shipping companies will have to comply to new regulations introduced by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). These regulations relate to the reduction of sulphur in fuels in order to reduce the impact on the environment.
While Falcotrans welcomes changes that will have a positive impact on our environment this has led to additional costs incurred by the shipping companies in order to conform to the new regulations.
Due to this Falcotrans will be adding a 6% surcharge on all import and export shipments in order to cover the additional costs imposed by all shipping companies.
Please note that these changes will be coming into effect as at 1st of January 2020. Surcharge will be calculated as a percentage of your current agreed rates and showed separately in the final invoice.
If you have any questions or need any further clarification please do not hesitate to contact us.
